John J. Tighe

In 2018 John Tighe took the helm as president of Peerless Clothing International, the leading manufacturer and distributor of men’s tailored clothing in North America. Tighe is the first new president of Peerless Clothing in thirty years and states his immediate goal is to “build on the successes and implement new growth opportunities” for the company.

Tighe began his retail career at May Department Stores in a series of merchandising roles that spanned more than a decade at Filene’s and Meier & Frank. JCPenney then recruited Tighe where he spent the next 15 years, most recently as executive vice president and chief merchant. In that role, he developed and executed the merchandising strategy for 850 brick and mortar stores as well as JCP.com. With a wealth of experience in product development and design, Tighe focused on building a balanced assortment of private, exclusive, and national brands.

Born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts, Tighe attended the University of Massachusetts of Amherst. While enrolled in an exchange program at the University of Hawaii, he met his wife Nickie. Today they are the proud parents of four, ranging from 14 to 26.

Tighe is actively involved in After-School All-Stars, one of the country’s most extensive free after-school programs keeping children safe and helping them succeed inside and outside the classroom. He also currently sits on the board of the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund, supporting the next generation of fashion industry talent.
