2018 NBA All-Star FIT Celebration
We kicked off the weekend on Thursday at the first official NBA All-Star Weekend event. One of our local middle and high school partners was the recipient of a world-class renovation of their sports and fitness facilities, thanks to the NBA and Kaiser Permanente. The renovated indoor and outdoor spaces were unveiled at a special celebration attended by NBA Legends Ron Harper, Felipe Lopez and Dikembe Mutombo and current players Buddy Hield (Sacramento Kings) and Imani Boyette (Atlanta Dream). On Friday, 12 ASAS employees joined NBA partner organizations from across the city (including our FOX Sports supporters) for the NBA Cares Day of Service. Together, we built a playground, painted murals, and planted a garden at an elementary school in Compton. It was a great opportunity to model our Life Service Action initiative to “give back to our community.”
Third Annual Jr. NBA Day Presented by Under Armour
300 of our All-Star students and staff members participated in the Jr NBA Clinic at the LA Convention Center for a series of basketball clinics alongside NBA All-Stars and Mountain Dew Kickstart Rising Stars players.
NBA All-Star Practice & Media Day
15 All-Stars were selected to attend and participate in the NBA All-Star Practice & Media Day. Check out this video. But even better, each student was paired up with a member of Team LeBron and got to run out onto the court together!
67th NBA All-Star Game
We brought 15 students to the NBA All-Star Game where they got to cheer on Team LeBron and watch him WIN and raise $350,000 to support our programs! Our students were joined by Arnold, and one lucky student, Salma, got to sit courtside with him!
