Daniela Grigioni began working as the Executive Director of After-School All-Stars DC in December 2015, after 20 years in the DC Public School system.
Last year, she was chosen to be one of 15 national Afterschool Ambassadors, working to raise awareness of national afterschool need as well as the need for stable funding to support afterschool programming.
She started at DCPS in 1994 in the Office of Bilingual Education working with bilingual population.
In 1998 she became the project manager of a five-year systemwide federal grant, PRIME DC, which provided math instruction and parental involvement activities in up to 11 District schools with large English Language Learner population.
In 2006, Daniela became the project manager and compliance officer at Education Strengthens Families Public Charter School (ESF), now renamed Briya PCS. After moving on in 2008, Daniela kept on serving on the Briya’s Board of Trustees for six years, until November 2014.
In 2008, Daniela joined DCPS central office as a project manager in the Office of Out-of-School Time Programs (OSTP), with the task of building and managing partnerships for afterschool services. Daniela then went on to serve as the interim co-director of the office from 2012 to 2014, while continuing to build partnerships and connections between program partners, schools, DCPS central office and other city agencies.
Daniela was born in Rome, Italy. She holds a medical degree from Sacred Heart Catholic University in Rome and came to the United States with her family in 1989. She lived in Washington DC with her husband and their three children since then.
