As the school year winds down, After-School All-Stars chapters across the country have been honoring student achievement, creativity, and community with meaningful end-of-year celebrations. From carnivals and culminating showcases to service projects and championship soccer games, these moments reflect the dedication of our staff, the passion of our students, and the support of our families and communities who make it all possible.
We’re proud to spotlight just a few of the many highlights Across the Network that made the end of the school year so special.
🎭ASAS New Jersey
Students at Brick Gateway Academy closed the year with style and spirit at their culminating event on June 6. The performing arts class wowed audiences with a production of The Wiz, while the culinary arts class served up turkey sliders and salads featuring a custom sauce designed by the middle school chefs themselves.
The All-Star Fashion Art class added flair with Barbie-inspired hats and party props, and the student DJs kept the energy high all afternoon. “Hats off” to Site Coordinator Jayde Green and the whole After-School All-Stars NJ team for creating a celebration to remember!
✈️ ASAS Puget Sound
In Puget Sound, All-Stars wrapped up the year with hands-on projects that sparked curiosity, leadership, and community impact. Showalter Middle School All-Stars explored aviation careers during Alaska Airlines annual Aviation Day—complete with flight simulators and plane design workshops led by real-world pros.
Meanwhile, Meeker Middle School students designed and led their own end-of-school carnival, with mentorship and Youth Advisory Board (YAB) students running games and passing out treats. Across three sites, the mentorship program capped the year with meaningful service projects including campus cleanups, positivity posters, and even a new student-grown community garden at Meeker. That’s student leadership in action!
🧪ASAS New York
To recognize hard work during state testing season, After-School All-Stars NY hosted a range of fun, hands-on activities across their sites—from STEM labs with BioBus and Reptile Day to a Puppy Party in Harlem that brought smiles all around. And the celebrations aren’t over yet—one of our sites is gearing up for a full-school equestrian experience later this month!
Big cheers to the boys’ soccer team at Dual Language Middle School, who are headed to the Community Sports League playoffs with an undefeated record. Join us in cheering them on as they chase the championship win on June 21!
From productions and projects to play and purpose, this past school year has been shaped by All-Star moments. We’re deeply grateful to the mentors, educators, partners, and families who made this possible- and to our students, whose brilliance and joy make every effort worth it.
As we transition into summer, we look forward to building on this momentum. Our summer programs are full of promise, adventure, and learning—and we can’t wait to see what our All-Stars accomplish next!
